Which accessories fit my Model Y before delivery, and how do I check the compatibility?
Tesla sells Model Y accessories in the Tesla Shop, and almost every product page carries a compatibility note: a production year ("produced in 2025+"), sometimes a trim ("Premium and Performance") and often an exclusion ("excluding Model Y L"). The same accessory can have separate listings for different trims, so read the note on each page against your order before you buy.
Who this guide is for
This guide is for the United States. It relies on the US Tesla Shop and the US Model Y design page, which we read on October 22, 2026. We read the 89 product pages linked from the Model Y accessories category. We give no prices: they change, and you see them on the product page when you order. We did not compare other stores, so this guide covers only Tesla’s official shop.
Which Model Y you have
On October 22, 2026, Tesla’s US design page listed four versions: “Model Y” (rear-wheel or all-wheel drive), “Model Y Premium” (rear-wheel or all-wheel drive), “Model Y L Premium” (long wheelbase, all-wheel drive) and “Model Y Performance” (all-wheel drive). Many buyers call the first one the “Standard” Model Y. We searched the 89 product pages for that word as a version name and found none, so this guide uses Tesla’s names. Check your order paperwork for the exact name of your version before you open a product page.
Where to buy
Tesla sells its accessories in the Tesla Shop, in the Vehicle Accessories category, then Model Y. The page mixes products for the older generation, whose names begin with “2020-2024”, with products marked “produced in 2025+”. It also includes items that are not Model Y accessories, such as clothing, so use the Model Y notes rather than the category name as your guide.
How to read the compatibility note
Most product pages carry a “Note:” line. Three kinds of information come up again and again:
- Production year. For example “Compatible with Model Y vehicles produced in 2025+”, or, for the older generation, “produced in 2020-2024”.
- Trim. Some notes name “Model Y Premium and Performance”. Others say “Not compatible with Model Y Premium and Performance vehicles”.
- Exclusions. Many notes end with “excluding Model Y L”, and some name Model Y L Premium separately, with a different production year (2026+).
Here are examples, as Tesla wrote them in the Tesla Shop on October 22, 2026:
| Product | Tesla’s note |
|---|---|
| Model Y Center Console Tray | “Compatible with Model Y vehicles produced in 2025+.” / “Not compatible with Model Y Premium and Performance vehicles.” |
| Model Y Premium and Performance Center Console Trays | “Compatible with Model Y Premium and Performance vehicles produced in 2025+ and Model Y L Premium vehicles produced in 2026+.” |
| Model Y Center Console Liner | “Not compatible with Model Y Premium, Model Y Performance, or Model Y L Premium vehicles.” / “Compatible with Model Y vehicles produced in 2025+.” |
| Model Y All-Weather Interior Liners | “Compatible with Model Y vehicles produced in 2025+, excluding Model Y L.” |
| Model Y All-Weather Front Trunk Liner | “Compatible with Model Y Premium and Model Y Performance vehicles produced in 2025+ and Model Y L Premium vehicles produced in 2026+.” |
| Model Y Sunshades | “Model Y Glass Roof Sunshade is compatible with Model Y Premium and Model Y Performance vehicles produced in 2025+, excluding Model Y L.” / “Rear Liftgate Sunshade is compatible with all Model Y vehicles produced in 2025+, excluding Model Y L.” |
| Model Y Parcel Shelf | “Included with Model Y Premium and Model Y Performance. Compatible with Model Y vehicles produced in 2025+.” |
| Model Y Expandable Trunk Organizer | “Not compatible with Model Y seven seat configuration.” |
| Model Y 19” Crossflow Wheel and Winter Tire Package | “Compatible with Model Y and Model Y Premium vehicles.” / “Not compatible with Model Y Performance or Model Y L Premium vehicles.” |
| Model Y Roof Rack | “Compatible with all Model Y vehicles, excluding Model Y L.” |
| Model Y Tow Package, Dual Zone Fridge, Paint Protection Film | “Compatible with all Model Y vehicles.” |
Our reading, not Tesla’s: Tesla lists two console products, one for Model Y vehicles produced in 2025+ that excludes Premium and Performance, and another for Premium, Performance and Model Y L Premium. That suggests the first is meant for the versions the second does not cover, but Tesla does not spell it out. When a note names only some trims, as with the front trunk liner, it says nothing about the others, so do not assume.
Before delivery
Our suggestions, not Tesla’s:
- Write down the production year and version from your order paperwork before you open a product page.
- Take a dated screenshot of the compatibility note on every accessory you order.
- If the note does not name your version, ask Tesla before you order.
- Do not assume that an accessory sold for the “2020-2024” generation fits a newer car, or the other way around.
- Check what already comes with the car. For example, the parcel shelf is listed as included with Model Y Premium and Model Y Performance, so do not buy it twice. For charging gear, see charging a Tesla from a normal outlet, and for the full list of what a new car includes, see what comes with a new Tesla.
Can you order before the car arrives?
Every product page we read showed this line to a signed-out visitor, next to a “Sign in” button: “In order to be eligible to purchase this product, you must be a Tesla vehicle owner.” We did not sign in. So we do not know whether the shop treats a customer whose car is ordered but not yet delivered as an owner, or whether you can add an accessory to your order. Ask Tesla, and keep the answer in writing.
What we did not confirm
We did not confirm that an accessory fits when its note does not name your version, delivery times, or what your new car already contains. Product pages change, so read the note again on the day you order.
For the car itself, TSL Check is the iPhone app we make. Its delivery checklist takes you around the car area by area, with the severity of each item and a photo and a note on whatever you find (how it works). If you are trading in an older car, see how a Tesla trade-in works. If your date keeps moving, see why the Tesla delivery date keeps changing.

Whatever you find at delivery, ask the advisor to record it before you sign, and keep a copy.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I buy official Tesla accessories for the Model Y in the US?
Tesla sells them in the Tesla Shop, under Vehicle Accessories, then Model Y. We did not compare other stores. For anything bought elsewhere, check the fit for your production year and trim yourself.
How do I know whether an accessory fits my Model Y?
Read the Note on the product page. It gives the production year (such as "produced in 2025+"), sometimes the trim (such as "Premium and Performance") and often an exclusion (such as "excluding Model Y L"). If the note does not name your version, ask Tesla before you order.
Do some accessories fit every Model Y?
Yes. On October 22, 2026, Tesla's notes said "Compatible with all Model Y vehicles" for items such as the Dual Zone Fridge, the Tow Package and the Paint Protection Film. Other items exclude the Model Y L or are limited to certain trims.
What does "2020-2024" in a product name mean?
The Tesla Shop lists products with a name that starts with "2020-2024" next to products marked "produced in 2025+". They are separate listings, so check your car's production year before you choose.
Are the center console trays the same for every trim?
No. Tesla lists a Model Y Center Console Tray for Model Y vehicles produced in 2025+ that is "Not compatible with Model Y Premium and Performance vehicles", and a separate set of Center Console Trays for Model Y Premium and Performance, and Model Y L Premium produced in 2026+.
Can I order accessories before my Model Y is delivered?
We could not confirm it. Every product page we read showed, to a signed-out visitor, the line "In order to be eligible to purchase this product, you must be a Tesla vehicle owner." We did not sign in, so we do not know how the shop treats a car that is ordered but not yet delivered. Ask Tesla.
